Meet the Team Behind IMS
When you call IMS, you’re talking to people who have been doing this for a long time — and who genuinely care about getting it right.
Kelsey Beauchamp joined IMS in August 2009 and has spent the last 15+ years making sure the business runs smoothly behind the scenes. She handles the administrative side of IMS — from client relationships and billing to keeping everything organized and on track — so that every experience with IMS feels seamless from start to finish.
Eric Erdmann came on board in October 2011 and brings over 13 years of hands-on technical experience to the team. As the operational lead, Eric works closely with IMS’s technicians to make sure your IT issues get solved quickly and correctly — no runaround, no guesswork.
In 2023, Kelsey and Eric took over ownership of IMS from founder Rick Johnston — a natural next step for two people who had dedicated over a decade each to the company. Together they cover every side of the business: Eric making sure the technical work gets done right, and Kelsey making sure the whole experience feels effortless for clients.
Both are rooted right here in the Fargo community. When they’re not solving IT problems for local businesses, you’ll find them involved in the same community their clients call home.

Rick Johnston – Founder
Our Roots
IMS was founded in 1995 by Rick Johnston — a North Dakota native who got his start writing custom accounting software for farmers in the Red River Valley. What began as a practical solution for a practical problem grew into something much bigger.
Over nearly three decades, Rick built IMS from the ground up — from a one-man break-fix operation into a full-service managed IT provider serving businesses across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. He was known for his straight-talking style, his commitment to showing up for clients, and his belief that technology should work for people — not the other way around.
In 2023, Rick passed the torch to Kelsey Beauchamp and Eric Erdmann, two IMS veterans he had mentored for years. His fingerprints are all over the way IMS operates today — the honest billing, the plain-English communication, the genuine care for every client.
Rick may have hung up his boots, but the company he built is in good hands.
